Rose Cumming is an iconic textile collection founded by a legendary interior designer. Rose founded her design firm and shop in New York’s Upper East Side in 1917 after moving to the USA from Australia. Known for her eclectic and idiosyncratic designs, Cumming began designing and printing her own textiles – creating some from scratch in addition to re-colouring classic English chintzes. Cumming introduced a generation of staid New Yorkers to saturated hues and chinoiserie, bringing chintz to the most informal spaces in New York homes.
As well as the Chintzes, the Rose Cumming collection consists of a large number of prints, sheers, silk taffetas, plains, jacquards and embroideries.
Today, Rose Cumming fabric production is owned by The Wells Companies, dedicated to preserving the textile line and introducing its designs to a new generation.
